Removable dentures are dentures that can be removed and reinserted into the mouth. They are used depending on whether the mouth has a small number of remaining teeth or no teeth at all. Mobile prostheses are divided into:
Total mobile prostheses : When there are no teeth in the mouth. They rely on toothless ridges and use a vacuum principle to hold them together. Made according to the principles of aesthetics and function, these prostheses look natural and unnoticeable. For improved aesthetics, new materials mimic natural gingiva, and individualized teeth look more natural.
Partial mobile dentures : When there are a few teeth left in the mouth. These prostheses connect to the remaining natural teeth. In this case, the porcelain crowns of the natural teeth contain part of the coupling with the mobile prosthesis, while the other part is in the prosthesis itself. This combined solution restores the function and aesthetics of the dentition.
Comfort and stability
For patients with chilled bone structures or large areas of mobile mucosa, where the total prosthesis cannot be stable, placement of 2 to 4 implants may be considered. By doing so, the prosthesis is stabilized and can be shortened, which allows greater comfort when wearing and eating.
Crafting
Review and planning : Depending on the condition of the teeth and bone, a plan for prosthetic intervention is drawn up.
Prosthesis production : Mobile prostheses are created in stages, with precise work and selection of quality materials. This includes creating the basic shape of the prosthesis, correction and final fabrication.
Inspection and adjustment : It takes time to precisely adjust the prosthesis to ensure functionality and comfort.
Modern mobile prostheses use quality couplings that enable long-term functioning without damage to the supporting teeth. The precise work, the correct choice of materials and the motivation of the patients are crucial for a successful end result.
