Porcelain veneers

What are porcelain veneers and what are they used for?

Porcelain veneers are thin, porcelain shells that are placed on the front, visible side of the teeth. They are ideal for correcting the shape, color or position of the teeth, giving you an aesthetically perfect appearance.

Conditions for Planning Porcelain Veneers

The planning of porcelain veneers implies the fulfillment of the following conditions:

  1. Healthy teeth : Teeth should be in excellent health.

  2. Perfectly healthy gums : The gums around the teeth must be healthy.

  3. Presence of all teeth : All teeth in the lateral region should be present.

  4. Stable bite : The bite should be stable.

  5. Absence of parafunction : Such as bruxism (teeth grinding).

If any of these criteria are not met, remediation is required prior to veneer planning. This may include treating cavities, gingivitis or correcting missing teeth. In patients with bruxism, a special prosthetic analysis of the bite and correction is required. After placing the veneers, the use of a night guard is recommended.

Procedure and production time

Porcelain veneers can be 0.2 mm to 1 mm thick, depending on the position and size of the natural teeth. We try to limit the minimal scraping of the teeth to the enamel, the insensitive tooth surface. The procedure is completed in 2-3 visits in about 7 working days.

Planning and review

Before moving on to the final design of your smile, we plan it on a wax model and mirror it on your teeth. This allows you to see how the veneers will look and make any necessary adjustments. You can wear trial veneers at home to see the final look.
